Devlog #18 - SYNTHADOME Version 0.8: Improved Readability and New NPCs!


SYNTHADOME Version 0.8 implements all of the feedback provided from testing feedback on version 0.75:

Readability- The issue of readability has been improved drastically with a few minor changes, the various terminals around the park are now animated with blinking lights and animated screens, this should fix the issue of readability drastically.

I've also improved the visual on destructible walls, no longer a red square, it is a full sprite with actual damage feedback based on how much the player hits it.

Bossfight Rework

I've made an change to the boss fight with how his shield works, instead of 4 pillars in the level, they're now pylons that enable his shield to work, once the pylons are destroyed, his shields will remain permanently down.

NPCs (With Dialogue!)

Meet INT-RN! Your helpful companion! he will be the first NPC you meet as you wake up, and he will guide you through the world of SYNTHADOME, providing context as well as tips on how to survive against the hosts.

Shop prices and buffs rebalance

One thing while testing 0.75 that was made clear immediately was the fact that the prices of the buffs based against the amount they give was way off balance, a 20% increase in speed was too much, so instead, it'll buff by 5% instead, I also set a level limit on the power ups, the maximum being achieved is 5, this is far more balanced than the initial store prices.

Colliders

Finally, A less noticeable change is that the colliders have no been fully reworked, scaled up, and implemented across all levels, so hopefully players shouldn't be able to get out of bounds anymore!
